Rose Canyon: Four

This is my favorite of the Rose Canyon shots. I loved how the multi-colored scrub oak  on the hills makes such a lovely and interesting backdrop for the dead branches in the foreground.

Rose Canyon: One

This Canyon is somewhat unique in the valley. It is not thickly forested, but it is still beautiful this time of year.

Sky Watch: Autumn Sky

I was so thrilled to see this through my lens. The clouds were so white, the sky so blue and the leaves so exactly Autumn. Hope you're enjoying the changes, too.

Here's to Scrub Oak.

Sometimes a shot is just much better than you think it will be, which was the case with this shot.

Lovely Golden Rain.

I headed up into the mountains today to see what I could find. I have wanted to do some Fall photography for a while. I had the day off work, and the weather was perfect. How often does that happen. The funniest thing is that I took this shot in my mother's front yard. It is one of my favorites, although Rose Canyon did not disappoint.

Highly Reflective.

I was standing with one foot on the seat of my car and the other on the door's armrest. I spent most of the time looking up, but when I looked down this is what greeted me. I though it was a nice greeting.

Sky Watch: Above the clouds.

This was a lovely, bright winter morning. It snowed this morning, lightly - still a bit unusual for October. The mountains, this one being Lone Peak, still had a dusting of snow and the clouds were still fairly low when I took this shot. It looks a little like I'm floating or flying somewhere but I'm really just on the other side of the valley fairly high up on the foothills of the opposite mountains.

Fall is Full Fields, Tractors and Barns.

Some of the trees in the mountains have started to turn, but many are still green. This year was a good water year and so the colors should be wonderful. I loved how the red barn and tractor looked here - pretty as a picture. Yes sir. . . and now they are.

Fall is Corn Mazes.

Near my home is one of the valley's most popular corn mazes. The trees are still green but that won't last long. The pumpkins and the tall dry corn say "Fall" to me.

Wintery Sunrise.

I know it's only October but it was beginning to snow when I shot these. It feels like winter, and it looks like winter, except for the leaves left on the trees.
My five year old said, "Mom, it's Christmas! We missed Halloween. Halloween is supposed to come before Christmas!"

Today's Flowers: Lavender

Lavender is my favorite flower to grow. Not only do I think it is beautiful but the aroma of fresh lavender is hard to beat. This is some Lavender growing at Thanksgiving Point Gardens, one of my favorite places to go to photos and flowers.

Sky Watch: Like Night and Day

This is the view out my back door.  Sometimes, the clouds over the Mountains seem pretty Schizophrenic, especially in stormy times.

Today's Flowers: lots to love.

A flower like this in and among a lot of green foliage is very easy to appreciate.

Tall and Thin.

They just look so good together, don't they?

Manicured Walk.

I love it when gardens grace walkways. I'm always amazed at how much there is in the way of variety and growth in these flower beds near my work.

Sky Watch: Bright White.

The light was great when I went out today. You could see details in the mountains that on average days are hard to pick out. There were perfect shadows and highlights. I loved it!

Counterpoint.

A wise man that I am acquainted with mentioned counterpoint as used in music. Two melodies, which although different, are harmonious and complementary to one another. This large pink flower, and the mass of smaller pink flowers seem to create the same harmony for the plant kingdom. They are harmonious, although they are very different.

Sunset in a flower

Lilies seem an appropriate Sunday subject. These were particularly incredible.

Childhood home

When I was very young, my family lived at the foot of these mountains. They are located near the city of Hyrum in Utah's Cache Valley.

Sky Watch: Perfect Backdrop.

It just wouldn't be the same if the sky were say. . . green, now would it?

Meant for each other

Chocolate and Strawberries. A truly exquisite combination.

Only Nature could make this.

Aren't we lucky to have such an amazing variety of plants and flowers. Things like this really do gladden my heart and make me happy. I'm glad it's such a beautiful world.

Sky Watch: Sunrise.

This photo was a gift. I happened to be up a little early, and saw an orange glow through my window treatment. I grabbed my camera and ran outside. It was stunning. I was so glad to be able to grab a few shots, and the chance to be able to remember forever this lovely sight.

Usana Amphitheater

Recently I attended a concert at an open air amphitheater, although it's not important who the singer was. I just loved the way the light and color played in this photo. Focus is sometimes superfluous.

Sky Watch: Not a Fire.

It really is just a Sunset, but it truly seemed as if the Sky were on fire. There was even "smoke".

Are your clouds painted on? (Vertical)

The hole in the cloud was just a small darker formation in front. I had to look at it over and over to be sure, but that's what it was.

Are your clouds painted on?

These sure seem like they are, anyway.

Sky Watch: Light breaking through the clouds.

It was too early in the evening for the spectacular colors of a sunset, still the light was spectacular. I pulled off to the side of the  road to take the photo, and I was SO GLAD I had my camera with me!

Gateway Series: Seven

This shot looks past the base of the clock tower to the roof of the Depot. I shot it from the upper mall level. I just enjoyed all of the visual texture.

Gateway: Olympic Legacy Plaza Fountain

This fountain puts out a tremendous amount of water, choreographed to music. In the summer time people gather to enjoy the cool fun, and the plaza is literally packed all day. I was able to grab this shot before the mall opened, which is about the only time there aren't a lot of people there.
