Almost Spring

Sky Watch: I just love clouds. I do.

You just can't get something as dramatic as this without them.

March is bringing showers. . . so the flowers will be right behind them.

And I'm really excited for the flowers. These are Siberian Iris from last summer, just as the sun was setting. For about a minute, the sun broke through some heavy cloud cover and lit them up so beautifully. I felt really lucky to be taking the photos when that happened. You can't plan everything. Sometimes, things just work out right.

At least, I'm pretty sure I'm going to paint this onto SOMETHING someday. The naturally occurring beauty in this world outstrips what the people do, day in and day out. :)

Fire on the Mountain

Well, in truth. . . it was Grand Teton Peak near sunset, with a waning storm and it was absolutely spectacular.

Looking Back at the Falls

I didn't know it was there. Now I will never forget.

Online, you can fine the most beautiful shots of the Tetons from this vantage point, at sunset with all the gorgeous colors reflecting on the Lake. I want to see that. This particular day, for us, was drizzling . . . and the light was not great. Within a few minutes, however, we got some spectacular shots of the sun coming through the clouds. Amazing! I've already shared one of those. I'll share more of those soon.

A River Runs Through It: Yellowstone

The Fall: Before and After

Up close and personal with Yellowstone Falls. It's amazing to me how the water seems nearly calm right up to the edge. . .

The Trail to Lower Falls: Yellowstone.

Something about these branches caught my eye. The trail rises about 600 ft in 3/8 of a mile (I think). It's pretty steep. I was probably just needing a break– but, scanning through the photos that I took later on, I really enjoyed the lights and darks in this one.

Loner

Grand Teton National Park is a Glacier Valley, wide and flat at the bottom. There is a river just on the other side of the trees. . . This tree on the emptier plain is a loner I guess.

Yellowstone

On the way to Yellowstone Canyon and Falls. So Beautiful and unspoiled, it is easy to understand why people came to the Western United States.

Looking North

We came back to Grand Teton National Park after being in Yellowstone for the day. It had been storming, but the clouds were beginning to lift. I got some spectacular photos, thanks to those clouds.

It's time to get started again!

This is such a beautiful Mountain Range. My family and I enjoyed our vacation this year in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. I'll be posting photos from the trip for a while.
