Sky Watch: Red Mailbox

I painted my mailbox red yesterday, and my 5 year old went out to take  a photo of it. I think he did a smashing job! I think this is one of my all time favorite photos.

Sky Watch: Sunrise Symphony

It just seems surreal, like modern art.

A little more

This is the same sunrise, looking North East along the Wasatch range. It shows my favorite sky color combination. I love it when the sky is pale turquoise and the clouds are a peachy orange.

Sky Watch: Mt. Timpanogos silhouetted at Sunrise.

My ten year old son came running into the room the other day, very excited, to call my attention to the color of the sky. My children know me well. He said, "Mom, don't you want to take some pictures?" And of course, I did want to capture what I saw. It was a gorgeous sunrise. I especially liked this shot because some of the sky is as dark as that silhouetted mountain.

Lone Peak in the Early Evening.

When I saw the mountains this evening, I scurried out to try to catch what will probably the last of the snow-covered shots of the year. I love how the light at this time of day shadows the canyons and reveals the terrain so much.

Sky Watch: Mt. Timpanogos at Sunset.

I've been trying to get a shot like this for twenty years. I still hope for a better one. I'd like to get the whole mountain at Sunrise or Sunset in the winter when it is covered with snow like this. I find it unbelievably beautiful and inspiring.

Y Mountain.

Y Mountain is directly East of Brigham Young University. If you look carefully, you can see the white block letter Y in the lower right of the photo. It is a bit camouflaged by the snow but it is there.
